| Cara Beckerle - Biography |
| "I'm a glass half full...but it's hard to live in this half-empty world" Positive, passionate and insightful only scratch the surface when describing singer-songwriter Cara Beckerle. Raised in St. Louis, Cara moved to Nashville, Tenn., in 1998 to pursue a music career, and after 5 years has returned to the St. Louis area to continue her efforts locally. Over the past several years, she has focused on her craft as a songwriter to find songs that discuss her journey so far. Drawing on her experiences, Cara’s songs come straight from the heart but speak to the things in life that bring people together. "The music that I write comes from a place that is both intensely personal yet common to people. I truly believe that when we look deep enough, we’ll find we’re more alike than most would be willing to admit. My goal is for fundamental emotions to reveal themselves in my songs." Singing is something that comes naturally to Cara. Anyone who has ever heard her voice would agree it’s a gift that needs to be shared. Growing up her talents were often recognized and she had many opportunities to perform throughout St. Louis. She further developed her abilities by studying voice at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. "Music is my passion. I’m not only an artist; I’m a music fan. I have great respect for the artists who made popular music what it is today - people like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, James Taylor and Carole King. But I also look out for new artists to listen to and learn from. I gravitate towards people with great songs to soak in as much as I can from their work." Cara has recently completed her debut EP entitled Push. This five-song recording is the culmination of several years of work - a labor of love as she follows the road to her heart’s desire. "Working on this project is the most exciting, exhilarating, scary thing that I’ve done so far. I’ve really stretched myself artistically and personally. A lot of what I think and feel has been laid bare for all to see. It’s the best I have to offer." "Every step I’ve taken has led me to this point. The path hasn’t always been clear, sometimes I’ve been stuck in the mud. Above all, I’ve tried to just keep walking. It’s been far from easy - many times I’ve needed that nudge in the right direction when I’ve gotten off track. But I wouldn’t be the person I am today without all of my experiences, good and bad. I just want to be true to my heart and the places it will take me." |
